Terry College of Business Rebranding Project
This project challenged me and my team to come up with a new positioning statement and visual identity system for Terry College as a brand. We spent a long time coming up with new logos, but nothing was feeling right. We tried everything we could think of. And I mean EVERYTHING. Books leaning on the classic UGA arch. A "T" with an open book at the top. A top-down view of Terry College's buildings.
To say the least, we were stuck. Eventually, our professor gave us some criticism on our designs, but then he pointed to the corner of our brainstorming document and said, "Hey, what about that one?" It was the very first design we had come up with. Initially, we felt it was a strong design, but we knocked the idea out because we felt it was too simple. Turns out that sometimes simplicity is exactly what's needed.
When we presented our ideas in class, the class had two members of Terry College's Marketing department judging all the designs. The judges listened to our presentations and gave us feedback based on how well our ideas lined up with our positioning statement, and whether or not this was a design that Terry could potentially adopt.
The simplicity of our design played into our favor, and our team won 1st place during the presentations.
