Prop Making
What did I do during the Pandemic? I built props from my favorite movies and shows of course!
I've always had a creative knack. The Pandemic caused me to take my creativity to the next level. When I went up to my parents about getting materials to build some cosplay "Grenade Gauntlets" from the show My Hero Academia, they said "You're crazy. Go for it." I was probably a little too ambitious with the first project of my "Grenade Gauntlets", but it was a really great learning experience.
I followed an online tutorial and pattern that I had found, and they turned out amazingly! From there, I was able to start creating my own patterns for different props that I wanted to make. This was an incredibly enriching exercise for me. Creating a wearable 3D object from a 2D illustration was something that I never had much experience with before.
My mom is a potter so I have worked with clay before, but I had no experience working with and manipulating foam. The learning curve was very steep, but once I figured out exactly how to piece things together, prop building became almost second nature.
All my props are wearable and made out of EVA Foam, Contact Cement, Primer, and Paint.
